Their bandleader, named Kevork Nalbandian, and together with the 40 pupils formed the first orchestra in Ethiopia and its history and even composed the first Imperial Ethiopian anthem.
Armenians have had an ancient presence in Ethiopia, there even is an Armenian house in my mother’s neighbourhood in the capital, Addis Abeba, though long abandoned since the fall of the monarchy in 1974. Armenians have done a lot for my country during its most dire times, Thank you!
