Penso che servano per vedere in molte direzioni, ma a volte sono posizionati dove non riesco a immaginare che le persone abbiano effettivamente bisogno di vedere in tutte le direzioni. Inoltre, mentre stavo pedalando (appena finito un giro in bicicletta nell’Arcipelago), vedevo nel fosso un tubo di plastica cavo arancione, lungo circa il mio avambraccio, con nastro riflettente attorno a un’estremità. Cos’è questa cosa?

Like was already said, it’s a stylish air vent for storm sewers.

They are used for snow plowing, it helps the snow plow drivers to see where the roadside ends and where the ditch begins.
I would imagine that shiny thing is nothing more than a bollard. Might have been placed there to prevent snowplowers accidentally going too close and damaging the building in the winter.
The orange plastic tubes in a ditch also serve snowplowers, except they tell them where the road is so they plow in the right places.
