Samadov was arrested charged with treason against the state. He was a correspondant to Armenian news, and well respected critic of the Azerbaijani state.

Here is one of his articles, https://oc-media.org/opinions/opinion-the-war-never-ended-the-peace-process-never-existed/ which was translated into Armenian here: https://www.civilnet.am/news/675355/հայերի-հետ-տևական-խաղաղություն-չի-կարող-լինել-քանի-դեռ-չենք-վերացրել-մեր-ազգային-ինքնության-հիմքում-ընկած-միֆերը%E2%80%A4-ադրբեջանցի-ակտիվիստ/

Armenia’s journalists response to the detainment:

    >“The Azerbaijani state silences its brightest people,” wrote Armenian researcher and journalist Vigen Chatreyan. “There will be no one left in Azerbaijan who will tell the truth about his past and talk about the present. only people who repeat state lies,” said Chatterian.

    >Andranik Shirinyan from the Armenian office of Freedom House described this as “terrible news”. “I hope that everyone, including the West, which continues to enable Aliyev’s regime, will do everything to release Samadov and take note. This is the country that will host COP29,” Shirinyan noted.

    >BBC journalist Grigor Atanesyan called Bahrouz “a very brave and true public intellectual”, adding that he is “one of the very few voices in the region who cares about the rights of everyone, not just the rights of his people”.

This comes after the detainment of a Taliyah activist last month, as Azerbaijan approaches the COP29 event. And has been continuously adding rhetoric to justify war.

Just yesterday, an article blaming Armenia for preparing to start a war. Azeri run Armenian tg channels have also been fear monger ring about Azerbaijan creating propaganda for “preemptive war”.

The less activists remain in Azerbaijan, the better it is for the current regime, the more likely we are going towards war.
