Iran’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the Russian ambassador to Tehran in response to Moscow’s recent support for a corridor connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan via Armenia, saying Tehran opposes any geopolitical changes to the region’s established borders.
The Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Eurasian Bureau met with the Russian ambassador to protest Russia’s support for the “Zangezur Corridor.” The Director General “reminded” the Russian diplomat of the need to respect the Iranian state’s firm position and the need to use the potential of regional countries to resolve issues, promote peace and stability in the region, and implement economic plans taking into account the interests of all parties.
