The ruling centre-right coalition is rolling out their agenda, which mainly persists of cutting the lower class and decreasing social spending

No, we have a little vermin problem at the parliament. Don’t worry, it’s nothing a little uprising and a coup won’t fix.

The private doctor compensation increase is ridiculous. The people who can afford it now were already going before. It’s tax payer money being channeled to private medical companies. Makes me so mad.

Like I have private health care through my employer, so obviously I use the private sector as well. But I’m not searching Kela compensation for this.

So the answer is: no we’re not.

I think…now it is really time to go on to the streets, because now, they take everything.
They make so many people unemployed now, but cutting benefits if you get unemployed.
The tax stays the same, but benefits get lower, meanwhile the politician and government sucks all the money in.
I would say, enough is enough.

No, but we might be in three years when Kokoomus and Persut gets kicked out for gross incompetence. Or maybe sooner if the govt gets vote of no confidence.

Absolutely not ok here. The government is pretty much trying to do spending cuts everywhere it can, ignoring the fact that many of those cuts will likely be saving a penny and spending a pound later.

Although the cuts are not happening everywhere, as demonstrated by the increased funding for private healthcare. And corporate support funds that apparently are oftentimes ineffective, sometimes even directly encouraging additional fossil fuel usage.

The Finnish economics has been going down already for a long time. At the same time the Finnish governments (hallitukset) have been spending more money than ever before. Lately every year, budget has been bigger than previous year. They have managed to do this by loaning money, of course. Even this year, there is lots and lots of new loans. Loan expenses (korkokulut lainoista) start to be thousands of millions every year.

Essentially you can think of it as someone who earns 5000e/month and takes 1200e/month more loan to buy nice things. In Finland the government budget is about 50000 million and they take 12000 million new loans. Not exact figures but correct order of magnitude. It is totally catastrophic. We can’t afford this.

Companies have been closing factories and the tax income going down every year. At the same time we are not being realistic about the new lower income level, but take loans (kulutusluotto) to compensate. We can’t afford the government services that are available nowadays. We have to cut them with about 12000 million EVERY YEAR now. What has been done is nothing yet compared to what will happen (at latest, when EU takes control of Finland economics to prevent total fall to bankruptcy).

What is the real problem? Two problems, I think. First is too much expenses. There are all kinds of things that government is paying that are not exactly basic services of society (police, army, healthcare, education, roads etc. are basic services) but instead make life harder for companies and citizens. At the same time Finnish country political risk has become so large that international companies are moving away. Like Finnish government owned petrochemistry company shutting down Naantali oil refinery (in Finland) and building a new one to Netherlands (easier political and legal environment). Like BASF built a chemical plant to Finland and has been fighting in courts for years as the permits were revoked after they built the plant. Etc. Etc. Instead of being happy that we get industry (and big tax payers) to Finland, we are trying everything we can to prevent it. At the same time, countries like Germany and France are supporting industry and welcoming it. No surprise Finland is becoming a post-industrial country.

It looks really bad. Really bad.

I hate this government so so so so much. I’m counting the seconds for the next election so they can get the fuck out. Hopefully enough people will wake up to how shitty this alliance is

Perhaps I’m missing something, but why on earth would tax payers need to help private healthcare? Is that so private healthcare users can apply for benefits from Kela? Or is that even what the text implies? I can’t say I’m familiar with it.

Surely the people who use it (and pay) do not need those benefits nor can they likely receive them due to salary amounts. I use private healthcare for everything because I get it through my work, so I see the receipts for the appointments—the prices are so insanely high, I’d _never_ use them if I had to pay.

Where have you been past years? World economy is going down the drain. Waiting for the AI bubble to pop..

  17. StraightBandicoot646 on

Well I think they are quite not doing enough. They obviously shouldn’t have increased the kela compensation for private doctors. But they should stop wasting government money on foreign aid, culture, sports, agricultural support, supporting harness racing, cruising industry. And obviously they should cut more from housing benefits, they should make it so you lose certain amount of housing benefit each year. People not working should live in cheaper ares if they rely on tax payers…
