I have identified the following Armenian cities with strong historical city cores:
* denotes undergoing works for restoration.
1. Gyumri *
2. Yerevan (Kond *, Old Nork and Kanaker)
3. Vagharshapat
4: Ashtarak
5. Dilijan*
6. Goris*
7. Meghri*
Additionally, I would like to add the following villages as historical:
1. Hin Khod
2. Hin Shinuhayr
3. Hin Halidzor
4. Shvanidzor
5. Khndzoresk
And the following cities / city parts with potential revival:
1. Yerevan (Dzoragyugh, Erebuni fortress and the Yerevan fortress)
2. Lori (Stepanavan).
3. Gavar
Additionally the following ancient sites:
1. Dvin
2. Armavir
3. Artashat
Worth noticing that even the Soviet architecture in Armenian cities is worth preservation due to its beauty.
But overall the state of historical architecture is way more depilitated than Georgian one. Mcxeta is more developed than analogous Vagharshapat, and Ashtarak with its beautiful landscape is more or less unknown. Dilijan has some attention, but IMO doesn’t live to its potential
Additionally I can notice (again) that old villages in Syunik have insane potential due to the unique architecture. They are pretty similar to famous touristic sites like Cappadocia in Turkey and can attract a lot of people from all over the world. What a shame.
I am also currently in process of making a Wikipedia article documenting our vernacular architecture. Dm me if you wish to help me
