Italy is OK. And that actually happened pretty much as written.

The PM was Silvio Berlusconi who was known for his “opinions”, so of course the yellow papers loved to make headlines and normal Finns were quite amused. All the usual Italian stereotypes are known in Finland as well.

Italians are generally fine, I don’t care too much. Some seem very pretentious, but overall no bad experiences. The ones I’ve had to deal with due to work are either not really good at English or purposefully don’t want to understand English. Their electrical engineering is a bit questionable at times, but I guess it might be just bad luck with the stuff I’ve had to deal with.
What comes to that pizza thing, it actually happened.

Really like the atmosphere in Italy, not that many experiences of meeting Italians in Finland, but in Italy I quite enjoyed being there. The food is great and the people were very friendly.

I don’t think about Italy very often. Apart from being Europeans, we have pretty much nothing in common

Great food, culture, fashion and football. And I guess you live with your parents longer than us?

Italians are okay… but the kind of dysfunctional economy they have got, they are weirdly smug against tourists. Like dude, why you hating tourists? they are literally keeping some of your cites and towns from starving away.
It’s not like you’d become California if those tourists weren’t there.
A little kindness for people who give you jobs should be shown.

The pizza thing went pretty much like that.
When it comes to work they are bit… hard to deal with as southern european work “ethic” is very different from what we have in the northern parts of Europe. Here if a meeting starts at 12.00 it means 12.00 but my personal experience with people from southern Europe is that for them its more like a loose guideline, they show up *around* that time – usually 10-20 mins late and its “relax, no problem, we start now”.

If you don’t know about Berlusconi, he was like an Italian proto Trump.

Italians are better than French but that’s not much, they were paid by finnish people for their house repair…

Italy seems like a beautiful place and I’d probably enjoy visiting there some day.
This historical event will always make me giddy, but it hasn’t particularly coloured my impression of the country itself.

Northern, Southern or Sardinia? They’re like different countries.

Great country for a holiday, not for living in.
