Scotland couldn’t survive on its own. They’d be trading sheep and silver shards again within months of independence.
England subsidises Scotland, they get an excellent deal from the British sterling and being in the union.

I can’t blame them, Brexit clearly isn’t what was promised, why would leaving the union be any different? they’d be out there with little to no help, not a member of the EU, all that money from england gone, it’d be chaos.

Not just a bigger majority (by 1% – up to 56% from 55%) for retaining membership in the Union, but also only 43% of respondants even wanting another referendum in the next 10 years.
Seems odd – fewer people support a referendum for independance within the next 10 years (again, 43%) than actually say they support independance (44%) so how fervent can those 44% even be if not even all of those people want the independance vote to even happen within 10 years I wonder.

It’s the same issue as Brexit. Even if you like the idea of independence there is simply no plan for how it is actually gonna be done.
Even basic ass shit like will they rejoin the EU, how will the border work if so? What currency? How does the pension scheme get split ?
Like there is no answer beyond figure it out. It would be madness.

Scottish independence would make Brexit feel like a walk in the park. Years and years of discussion on what independence would look like, drafting frameworks, setting up border checks, rehoming British military assets such as those on the Clyde etc.
Not only will their economy suffer heavily from independence, many jobs will move south of the border.

Most recent poll on Scottish independence, shows just a minority of Scots (44%) support staying in the UK.
Down from 55% in 2014. And this is as good as it gets for the union. The SNP is currently in a mess and the Tories have just been outsted. It’s all downhill for the unionists from here. A few years of Starmer is going to help push down support for the union, even further.

Scottish nationalists are as delulu as arch Brexiteers if they think Scotland would fare well outside of the union.
They’d become even more irrelevant to world politics than the UK currently is, and have 0 say in anything. Not to mention the Barnett formula benefits them heavily.
