I don’t always agree with GLB, but in this case I completely agree with him.
It was an ingenious attack that mostly took out terrorists.
My own personal opinion aside, I think he handled it in a very respectful way by handing the activists the microphone and have a normal conversation with them by setting out points and arguments.
>”After the attacks of September 11, 2001, we fought two wars, one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Belgium was involved. At least half a million people died in those conflicts. **Is there anyone in the room today who thinks that Belgium is therefore a genocidal state?**”
So this asshole is trying to give arguments using UN unauthorized invasions based on lies (like those unexisting “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq) or against armed groups that were funded, supported and instructed by the USA (Taliban in Afghanistan)?
The fact that Hamas did an awful terrorist massacre on Oct-07 killing a thousand civilians does not give Israel the right to bomb indiscriminately Gaza killing more than 40.000 civilians, half of them children. Not the right to bypass any international law, commit ethnical cleansing, forced displacement of millions, choking a full population with supplies, water, electricity and medical restrictions. Nor the right to bomb all the hospitals and schools in Gaza. Because all those actions, Israel is in the International Court for genocide and has been imposed preventive measures to stop the massacre. (yes, measures that Israel is not following at all).
And by the way, Israel has been illegally invading Palestine for decades, so if Bouchez wants to use “the right to defense” for Israel, then he should admit the right of Hamas to defend themselves too.
So, Mr. Bouchez, do not use 2 different standards with IDF and Hamas. If you are “amazed” by the “ingenious hit” of the pagers that killed and injured hundred of civilians, then maybe you should be “amazed” of the hit that Hamas did bypassing all the IDF surveillance systems on Oct-07????
Someone that wants to be “impartial” should say that both Hamas and Israel have used terrorist actions.
**And by the way, this guy is not so cynical about trying to defend the Israel massacre, but he is so stupid that when he links the words “Belgium” and “genocidal state”, he comes with 2 countries different than Congo.**
