CIAO. Grazie mille!

Any sort of electric heating of water gonna cost you a fortune in Germany nowadays.
This is an instantaneous water heater, i.e. it heats exactly the amount of water you draw from the tap to exactly the temperature on the display. You can change the temperature by the big knob, and store a temperture setting to buttons 1 and 2, usually by pressing them long.
The eco button reduced the maximum flow and thus the amout of water heated.
The red LED simply indicates a temperature setting >40°C.
This already is the most efficient version of such heaters, and you cannot save anything by replacing it. (Simpler ones cannot reduce the flow and have fixed power levels, i.e. cannot be set to a precise temperature)
It would be cheaper to make hot water via the central heating, which could include a heat pump or collectors on the roof, but this is not an option, I guess…
Finally, just use less hot water to save money by showering not that long and reducing the water flow. Ah, and set the temperature to exactly the temperature you like, so you don’t have to mix it with cold water.
I have either the same or a very similar model, and my cost has been quite low actually. I don’t think you’re gonna do that much better by changing it tbh, at least not with electric heating.
