    TLDR summary

The article argues that Europe should reject any plan to allow Russian gas to reach the continent, whether directly or disguised as Azerbaijani gas through Ukraine. As the Ukraine-Russia gas transit agreement ends, some countries like Slovakia and Hungary push for alternatives to maintain Russian gas supplies, despite Ukraine’s refusal to renew the deal. However, Azerbaijan cannot supply additional gas, and any attempt to rebrand Russian gas would enable the Kremlin to continue profiting from energy exports.

Central European nations rely heavily on Russian gas but could switch to other sources. Allowing this scheme would undermine EU solidarity and prolong dependence on cheap Russian energy, feeding Russia’s war machine. Europe and the US must support Ukraine and hold these countries accountable for prioritizing self-interest.

Russian anything is not a solution and shouln’t be a solution in the future for Europe. Start planning for a global supply chain, raw materials, energy and trade pipeline with Russia excluded.

Stop hoping the cheap Russian shit will return to Europe to offer an easy solution…

I will see this as a pointless discussion.

People will argue about where to buy gas when the argument here should be: let’s get rid of it.

Unfortunately some “ecologists” did a terrible job that eventually led to the gas problem. Maybe it’s time to undo that.

This is an excellent opportunity to look at carbon free sources, let’s take it.

Russia will use every lever to destroy EU and the western unity. It’s simply the mission of Putin and his old soviet KGB friends. Too bad the western world doesn’t want Russia to be divided once again into several counties. It’s still better to have local conflicts like between Azeri and Armenia than a fully blown war like in Ukraine. Russia will be at war as long as it exists, it’s its nature, militaristic Empire

  6. Remember when German politicians laughed at Trump when talking about Russian energy dependency?

  7. Only reneables and sustainable energy should be in EU future.

Alongside a big push for strategic autonomy of production and supply lines.

Less than a month later, Draghi’s team published its audit of the European economy, as well as an analysis of what will happen if we act as we do now, and what needs to be done to make things better.
One of the key initiatives there is to reduce the cost of resources, and not in the long term, but in the near future.
Otherwise, recession and negative growth will occur not only in Germany, but also in other economies of the EU countries.
The Russians have already redirected most of their resources to China, India and the rest of South Asia, dumping other suppliers or entering into cartel deals with them.
Europe has found itself in the worst position: the EU is forced to buy resources at a more expensive price, while global competitors (the United States, China and India) use them more cheaply.
I am sure that the tragic situation of the EU is understood in the United States and China, and they will do everything to weaken their strategic competitor.

No one’s gas is Europe’s solution. Sun, wind, water, geothermy, waves. Those are all european energy sources
