And zero will ever be removed.

We need a more robust deportation service.

I think the pro migration green party should do their bit for the environment and recycle the boats. Why not take the used ones back to France for another trip?

5 years of national service if you arrive without documents and have no place for deportation.

They will have food and a place to sleep, even learn the native language. Also earning a wage while doing national service for the country they are looking to call home.

  4. There’s definitely something fishy going on with this sub

It’s becoming very common to see these small boat stories (not actually ‘news’ by the way, we all know it’s happening), which see some very quick responses with the usual dog whistles.

Over time, the more sane elements of Reddit will engage and balance out the comments.

Really feels like right wing astroturfing, and it’s been going on for at least a year.

I often see these posts quite early also, and usually challenge the loonies, usually rewarded with a couple downvotes. But again, this balances out over 24 hours or so.

Handling these arrivals must be a challenge, I wonder how the system will cope long term

Can’t we just imprison them and put them to work?

They’ll be safe and if they want to leave they’re free to be dropped over whichever country they came from

    With a parachute offcourse

And crudely £25,000,000 has just been added to the tax bill (and straight into the pockets of hotel owners most likely – am assuming £1000 per week crudely, even if not all of it goes on accommodation I’m assuming some will). They need to have genuine legal routes in (which I believe already exist) and robust processing and routes for removal. Like on a crude level – I’m sure that £25,000,000 could be repurposed to fund a processing centre? E.g. say 100 staff on £30K per year average = £3,000,000, find yourself a Government building a Council wants to offload or rent and start processing? (Multiply by 3 centres say for £15M total?). I’m sure I’m grossly over simplifying but keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is nuts.

Funny how they illustrate their small boat story with a picture of a pretty large border force boat offloading another hoard of benefit claimants.

How many of the small boats actually manage to reach the shores of England?

Look what’s happening in Hamburg. FFS. Kick them out send them back. The hotels are full

This Rwanda plan must come into force. Anyone landing illegally goes there to be processed without a timeline. Australia did it with Nauru. Wha’s stopping UK?
