  1. Working conditions are abysmal, pay is appalling for the risk you are exposed to and expected to manage, and you constantly run the risk of being stabbed in the back by SLT if something you do doesn’t look very nice to the 9 o’clock brigade. It’s no surprise that people are leaving at the rate that they are.

    >Home Office figures show that police officers voluntarily leaving the service has hit a record high of more than 5,000, or 3.4 per cent of the workforce

Police fleeing, wealthiest in the country fleeing, high taxes for the working people, stagnant salaries, high migration rate, all we need now is to print more money to make inflation soar and then we can give the Argies a run for their money!

Relatively poor pay for dangerous and traumatising work, media loves to whip up anti-police sentiment, police constantly arresting the same prolific criminals who the courts immediately release back out because we have soft sentencing, unsociable hours, overworked because there aren’t enough other police working, very little thanks and respect for the job from the general public…. So yeah this is no surprise

Always see people saying Police are poorly paid, is 47k for a top whack Constable poor? 54k for a Constable in London, somewhere in between for the home counties. Whilst the gold plated pension has gone for a 30 year career, the pension is still so much better than most.

Someone needs to a do a FOI request around the REAL figures of those leaving.

The Met appear to be loosing hundreds a month and recruiting less than 10. Throw in those who are pensionable and waiting for there pension statements + all those officers now refusing to carry Firearms anymore which is another crisis.

Nationally it must be a serious situation. Yet not a peep from the media really or MP’s??

With the risks police face, the massive impact it has on your personal life, the immense breadth of things they deal with because nobody else can or will and the constant media scrutiny you can understand why.

I’d potentially give a fuck if the police weren’t the most useless jobs worth bureaucratic losers to walk the earth.

The exodus has nothing to do with Starmer. 14 years of underinvestment and undermining have made the job poorly paid and awful to do.
