It’s actually crazy how society isn’t taking addiction to this as a serious problem.

The pipeline to porn for young teens is crazy.

Many ‘funny’ YouTube channels will have famous female pornstars or smaller OF girls involved in their videos. (20V1 dating challenge type videos).
YouTube shorts will feature pornstars in skits etc.
    Sidemen,Trevor Wallace,cherdleys etc.

I don’t have tiktok but id imagine that’s the same.

Obviously Young fellas are going to find it anyway but the aggressive ‘advertising’ of it on non porn channels doesn’t really sit well with me.

Searching for relevant terms returns lots of discussion in the media but little action in the Dáil, focussing only on porn from a child protection viewpoint. There is this, which is positive.

The normalisation of vile pornography is one of the worst things to happen to society. It has warped and ruined so many young lives.

The amount of violence against women in porn is really shocking to me as a woman. I think many men grow up thinking choking, hair pulling, pushing, slapping, bruising, aggressively grabbing etc is a totally normal part of sex.

Just look at the front page of pornhub. Some of the top videos promoted look like straight up rape. There are whole channels devoted to portraying women in pain from sex

The normalisation of choking women during sex because of violent porn needs to be addressed.

there is nothing vanilla about cutting off the blood flow to someones brain and putting them at risk of stroke and embolism, especially many people expecting it by default and just doing it with no prior consent.

I’ve been hurt by partners who think that’s just what normal sex is.
teens are doing it to girls on the regular

Do they actually show a causative link between watching depictions of violence in porn and increased violence towards women? Or is this violence in video games all over again?

Like if anything the inverse seems just as likely to be true, depictions of violence in porn are cathartic and reduce violence towards women. I think it’s at least fair to say that historically the societies that had strictest attitudes to porn treated women pretty badly.

The labelling and classification or porn has some very dark trends.

Shit parenting, zero accountability amongst male friend groups, dismissive gardaí and a lax approach by the judiciary are the cause of our sexual assault/rape rate being triple the EU average (a statistic that predates recent immigration, so shut up in advance).

I think for a lot of young men they think sex has to be a certain way or they are less masculine or somehow underperforming. A lot of men have to be “retrained” by patient women who as it turns out don’t like to be degraded or roughly handled. They realize healthy secxisn’t like the porn movies.

It’s a very difficult thing to untangle. There’s a lot of body dysmorphia for both sexes where if your body doesn’t look a certain way they you’re “weird”. When in fact the variation is totally normal. Ask any health care professional.

Crazy how it became empowering for women to have OnlyFans in the last few years.

The GF was out with her friends at the weekend, and some were complaining about how “vanilla” or boring their partners are in the bedroom.

    Some they are married to…

Then the nobodies that took to Onlyfans and made millions.

The section on porn in Caitlin Morans book ‘What about Men’ should be mandatory reading for teenage boys.
