“Its work for Farage has become public because CapitalHQ had to register with the government under “foreign agent” laws in the US. Preate and two of her employees have declared they were paid salaries by CapitalHQ while carrying out activities on behalf of a “foreign principal” after Farage became an MP in July.

According to the documents, CapitalHQ was hired to take on activities for Farage including “promotion, perception management, public relations, speeches, appearances, communications, travel, accommodation and logistics and other political activities in furtherance of political interests of the foreign principal”

Surprised the failure to declare isn’t in the headline. You’d think that was quite an important part of this as we wouldn’t have known without the US looking into it.

The American right and their seemingly endless pots of money are a huge threat to our democracy and political life. The “LGB Alliance” is funded by US conservatives and evangelical Christians. Brendan O’Neill’s *Spiked Online* is funded by the hard right Koch foundation. Nigel Farage also benefits from substantial financial backing from the US. Much of the “anti-woke” culture war rhetoric is imported directly from the United States.

I strongly oppose the further polarisation and Americanisation of our politics. The fact that Harris and Trump are neck and neck in the polls is a troubling indictment in itself.

Worth remembering that Bannon also supported Boris Johnson’s bid to become party leader ( a thing that was explicitly denied by Boris but later shown to be true, by which time it seemed like a very minor lie).

So the meddling in U.K. politics has been going on for at least 8 years.

That seals what we all know and fear about Farage.

Crackpot deranged nationalistic fascists of a feather flock together on the wrong side of history and decency purely for their own bigoted satisfaction.

Any and all foreign nationals should be banned from uk politics including these type of roles unless they have some form of settled status in the uk

The media doesn’t really talk about it much but both “sides” of our political spectrum are heavily influenced by the American lobby.

If it was Russia people would be rightly worried about how much control a foreign country has over Britain. People assume that because it’s America they have our best interests at heart which is hilariously naive. Our “special relationship” has always just been about milking the British public of as much money as possible.

Why does he need a PR team in the USA? He’s supposed to be a British politician.
