      I don’t know why he gets criticzed so much for the call.
      Yes it was obvious that it wouldn’t change anything, but at least it shows all these pro-“negotiations” people once more that Putin is not interested in peace.

      Personally I don’t have a problem with him calling Putin. I mean it is totally useless obviously as Putin is not listening to anyone telling him to stop the invasion and get his troops and the Korean ones out of Ukraine. But it is also not making things worse. Overall it is just a waste of time and at least Putin suffered a little bit as listening to Scholz must be annoying as hell. There is a reason why even in Germany hardly anyone likes Scholz. He is a charismatic black hole.

      As I already said elsewhere, Putin just won the US election. Do you think he’ll settle for a peace? If anything, it will bolster his ambition and thirst for more land. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to invade the baltic states.

      The only phone call they need to hear is a call from their soldiers saying their bases are hit by western long range weapons.

      Those are the type of phone calls russia needs and respects.

      Scholz calling Putin is seen by putin as a “pretty please”, a desperation, legitimizing russia’s war, a sign of weakness, an invitation to inflict more damage.
