Yes, driving a car supports violent petrostates. Sad but I doubt many people care.
A LOT of our daily necessities drive profits into the hands of people that in general I‘d say aren’t the „nicest“ ones. Some we can steer away from quite easily on a personal choice basis others we would need a collective effort to avoid. But most of the time convenience is in conflict with a moral responsibility that doesn’t show any immediate benefit. Undoubtably these days the „war“ on information has left these „values“ in a state of confusion. Which was the ultimate goal of the „fake-news“ campaign. And it’s starting to feel like I don’t even want to blame people anymore for not knowing what to believe anymore. The system is broken. But I certainly hope that this doesn’t mean that empathic and socially acceptable behaviour will be replaced with advanced marketing strategies that undermine every aspect of our existence but that really seems to be emerging from a fact-less turbo capitalistic world we’re co-creating.
In other words to my previous comment: Avoiding big fat greedy warmongers today feels a lot like hopping stones over an imaginary stream. No one really knows in what direction the make believe stream flows. Some kid just called it lava too. Btw the stone I‘m currently standing on is actually manhole cover. Sometimes we have to literally walk over the street without caring where at the game we are. Some people make up rules for games we don’t even know we play. Sometimes we just don’t care because it’s not so easy to keep track of a game where the rules constantly change and you can’t even know who’s playing and who’s pretending to.
