Hmm another soft sentence for a teenager. I think something should change here but it’s hard to pin down the details of what.
This sub will rattle on about life or death sentence for children which is obvious populist nonsense but there’s certainly something that needs to improve.

Seems to have got off very lightly.
No doubt he will use his detention wisely to educate and improve himself, and come out when he’s 20 as a functioning member of society… 🤔

>The boy had previously been reported to the police for assaulting another bus driver. A supervision order for that offence had ended three weeks before the fatal attack on Mr Rollinson.

The UK is no longer safe…. If you kill then it should be life in prison with no parole. He killed someone and will be out in a couple of years, what a joke

Isn’t there an appeals process available to protest overly light sentencing? If so then I hope the family take advantage of it. This little POS should have been given 25 years with no chance of parole.

I feel so sorry for the family of this poor man, this must feel like a total slap in the face.

A lot of feral teen shits in the UK now.
It got so bad up here, a bus station had to stop running buses from it after 5 pm due to the teen shitheads running riot. There were even stabbings, and them nicking shit from the shops and bragging to security, etc that they couldn’t be arrested due to their age.

If you look past the headline it, the sentencing seems a lot more reasonable.
Factor in the age of the defendant, immediately pleading guilty, that it was an assault, and that the victim had underlying health conditions that would’ve resulted in him having a heart attack any day then it’s not as crazy as it originally sounds.
Granted it won’t make it any easier for the family of the victim but the entire point of our justice system is to reform as well as punish. Only time will tell if this kid grows into a violent career criminal or if this is the wake up call he needs to turn his life around.
It’s grey area cases like this that are so hard to judge. Where’s the balance between a sentence the family see as fit and a sentence where the best possibility of reform is possible?

The question is how much is a life worth? Imo this teenager should be sentenced to work in a factory until he has made at least £300,000 + living costs + court/prosecution costs. He should face a harsh punishment and pay for the costs of it himself, plus the compensation to the family of the victim

Insane, should be at least 18 years and probably more!
