    >The annual ball of health insurer changes for 2025 is in full swing, with the registration deadline running until the end of November. Every year, almost 8% of policyholders decide to change insurers, often after consulting online comparators. However, many of these sites do not present all the insurance companies’ offers from the outset, RTS reported on Tuesday.

    >For example, only a dozen or so insurance companies are highlighted in the basic Comparis ranking, either through direct advertising or through a link that allows users to request a quote directly. Responding to questions from RTS, Comparis specialist Felix Schneuwly explains that this is not a deception for internet users. ‘We’ve always done it this way and people are used to it. They know what we see and what we don’t see on the site.’ He adds that Internet users are looking for speed and simplicity when using online comparators.

    >This fragmentation of offers is partly explained by the desire of certain insurers not to appear at the very top of the search results, fearing a wave of new policyholders. Taking on more policies means higher administrative costs for the insurers. An increase in the number of policyholders can also lead to an overload of customer services.

    >Contacted by RTS, Concordia explains that it is ‘very attentive to the growth of its customer base’ and explains its decision not to appear spontaneously in certain searches out of concern for maintaining its sound financial health. Concordia believes, among other things, that it attracts enough new policyholders through its own commercial services.

    >Another explanation for this phenomenon lies in the agreements between insurers and comparison platforms. This is because most comparison platforms receive commission for every new policy taken out via their site. ‘In recent years, Comparis has reportedly achieved annual sales of between CHF 6 and 10 million in relation to the LaMal’, notes RTS.

Can confirm that over the course of several weeks the two cheapest insurance options for me (ÖKK and Helsana) disappeared from Comparis one after the other. So searching in October showed ÖKK as the cheapest, two weeks later ÖKK was not in the results anymore and Helsana was the cheapest of the ones shown, few more weeks later, Helsana is gone from the results.

They don‘t want every single person to change to the actual cheapest option I guess.
