What happens when you put Israel ahead of your own country

    From the article:

She also condemned Israel for its swift portrayal of the incident as an attack on Israelis, despite prior behaviour by Maccabi supporters in which they chanted anti-Arab slogans and tore down Palestinian flags.

**”We were completely caught off guard by Israel. At 3am, (Israeli) Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu was already giving a lecture about what happened in Amsterdam, while we were still gathering the facts,” she said in Sunday’s interview.**

The football match violence has rocked the Dutch government, with country’s finance secretary announcing her resignation on Friday following comments by Hard-right Dutch political leader Geert Wilders.

Wilders last Wednesday blamed Moroccans for the attacks on Israeli football fans, claiming that “we saw Muslims hunting Jews” and added it was fuelled by “Moroccans who want to destroy Jews.” He said those convicted of involvement should be deported if they have dual nationality.

Announcing her resignation, Morocco-born Nora Achahbar of centrist New Social Contract party said that “the polarising manners have had such an impact on me that I could, or would, no longer fulfil my role as state secretary.”

**”Polarisation in society is dangerous because it undermines the bond between people. Because of that, we start seeing each other as opponent instead of fellow citizens,” she said in a statement.**

A disgrace. I bet she was upset there were so little casualties.

But thats just far left being far left, what else one could expect from them

Now that the bullshit narrative has solidified, people can be honest about what actually happened.

Will the Israeli violent thugs be charged, detained and sentenced for the crimes they committed in the Netherlands? Or have they all just flown home on their airplanes and got everything they did erased from their records?

  6. I’d just be happy if violent people got arrested and nobody was beaten for his/her skin color or nationality. I really don’t understand why this is so difficult nowadays.

It feels like everyone, both this woman, and most commenters here, are just thinking of how to use to advance their favorite group.

    >following the match, Halsema had said “Boys on scooters crisscrossed the city in search of Israeli football fans, it was a hit and run. I understand very well that this brings back the memory of pogroms.”

    but then later

    >”In The Hague, the word pogrom is mainly used to discriminate against Moroccan Amsterdammers, Muslims. I didn’t mean it that way.”

Why can’t she condemn the targeting of Muslims *without* downplaying what had actually happened?

Granted, some Israeli fans chanted stuff they shouldn’t have, but running Israelis over with a car and looking for Israelis on the streets of Amsterdam is pretty much a pogrom. How these events were later used by politicians in the NL is not relevant at all here

  9. It’s not a pogrom unless it comes from the Pogrom region of Russia. Otherwise it’s just sparkling antisemitism.

It was a justified reaction to hooligan football fans from Israel.

They fucked around and found out.

The change of tone makes a lot of sense as more facts come out.

The Israeli hooligans behaved despicably in the run up to the attacks though. They destroyed multiple taxis, took down a flag and sang songs like “death to Arabs” and “there are no schools in Gaza because there are no children left”.

Of course this does not justify violence, but it’s not some random unprovoked attack.

Good to see the hasbara don’t control this narrative anymore

  13. As usual the left is too fearful of criticizing who they consider the underdog

Israeli Hools and Israeli government can be called out without weaseling around calling the organized jewhunt as it is. Israeli government making populist remarks also does jot change the events whatsoever

I would be happy with them getting the result of this weakness handed to them at the voting booth, if only people.would not vote for neofascists instead

The left will yet again refrain from taking a powerful stand in a discourse and let the far-right populists have a field day with the issue.

Is there another word than “Pogrom” for “a city wide preplanned organized Jew hunt” ?

Perhaps she now thinks “Kristallnacht” would be more appropriate and less insensitive towards the Maroccan community?

Her entire tone is “well the Jews brought it upon themselves”.

Yes, in her case, “Kristallnacht” would probably be a better choice.

  15. Giver her a week more and she’ll finally admit that Israeli hooligans were responsible for everything and just weaponized antisemitism as a hoax.

  16. Charming-Raspberry77 on

Well it is abundantly clear to any Israeli where Europe stands. Since October 2023 there is really nothing much to add.

  17. Dont_Knowtrain on

Well did that take a week to figure out? The Israelis started it but couldn’t finish it

  18. > Mom, can we have Gaza war ?

    > No, there is Gaza war at home

Gaza war at home (??) :

Sorry but as a Brazilian, usually when Argentinians are around their hooligans burn out Brazilian flags and said lots of racist things. We didn’t answer with violence in Brazil back in 2014:

    https://www.emirates247.com/sports/fifa-world-cup-brazil-2014/fifa-world-cup-2014-final-argentina-pain-turns-to-violence-over-loss-to-germany-2014-07-14-1.556389

    https://www.wlrn.org/2014-07-01/argentinian-world-cup-fans-plant-their-flag-in-brazil

So don’t normalize answering these provocations with violence.

My support for Israel started to wane after their automated drones shooting at kids or this soldier peeing at the body of a polish member of humanitarian help. And it fully ended after this one private party of my friend where among others there were four people from Israel. It was all fun and jokes until the politics talk started, and suddenly all of them were saying these things a Nazi-Soldier would say in 1939. I assure you – We Poles love dark, political-incorrect humor – Unfortunately this was something else.

After this experience I checked the list of [Israel’s War Crimes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crimes_in_the_Israel%E2%80%93Hamas_war) and it turns out to be pretty long. Overall in this conflict there are 489 references and counting.

More confirmation of what was known from day 1.

Are Biden and Netanyahu going to be held accountable for spreading misinformation about the event and cynically using accusations of anti-semitism to cover up the vile acts of football hooligans?

These people are attacking dutch citizens in a capital city that their own people should feel safe in. Dont separate them as jews and defend them as countrymen.
