I get investigating the drivers, but putting the passenger up for gross misconduct must mean there is more to it surely?
As someone who with their spouse is trying for a baby, and who just lost one through early miscarriage, this is so upsetting I can’t even bear reading about it.
If those officers played any part in this death, the book needs throwing at all of them. Two needless deaths, if that’s the case.
The bar for actually charging police drivers in these kinds of situations is very high. I’d be quite surprised of this ever gets to court, let alone if they’re found guilty.
They should expect it not fear it, why should they get any special treatment? Anyone who kills anyone in such a way needs to be fully investigated
How can we expect police to not hand in their badges if we keep pursuing them for every little civilian death they directly cause.
I live across the park from this incident and while I didn’t see it happen, I saw the dozen-or-so emergency vehicles hanging around with their blues on for four hours afterwards.
20 minutes after the last vehicle left, I saw a police car with lights and siren on flying up the exact same road at at least twice the speed limit.
The Metropolitan Police will never change.
