I’m sorry but what causes the romanian far right to be eurosceptic?

George Simion is usually characterized as a right wing leader and his party is considered extreme right party and this is a mistake. In fact, he is a populist by the book, so as any other populist, he claims he and his party represent the voice of romanians and that that people are never wrong, the Romanians are good and hard working and the reason for them being poor is the others. Others being the corrupt elite from the traditional parties, the corrupted press and EU leaders, un-elected foreigners who don’t care about Romanian peoples. You can see this kind of discourse at all the populist leaders, from Victor Orban to Boris Jonson with Brexit.

Also they are not claiming a ro-exit, but they are for a more less integrated EU, so this he can have votes in a country that is a pro-eu.

I’m leaving this comment here because I want this message to be seen: AUR and Simion are a far right party masquerading as a populist mid to center left party for at least a year now.

The fucker used to be unhinged. It’s how he built his fan base and rose to fame. For the past year he’s been cleaning up his image and when you go from anti-mask and anti-vaccin to sounding reasonable and you go to more and more sane tv stations without sounding like a lunatic, people tend to believe you. They hope you got your shit together and maybe the crazy was just an act you grew out of. Of course, it’s not, but most people get bored in history class. It’s the LePen recipe. And it works. Hopefully, we’ll prove smarter than that.

If we don’t, the president has little power in Romania, so let’s hope that saves us.
