Law seems f*cked here. Kill your spouse, not only retain your own share of assets but have mortgage paid off by life insurance and then retain legal guardianship over your children and thus control over your spouse’s portion of the estate left for them. You might be out on supervision before your children even come of age if they were young enough at the time. Its almost an incentive to murder.

Reminds me of the Eamon Lillis case – he got to keep half the couple’s net worth (that was entirely earned by the wife he murdered) and fought his own teenage daughter in court to prevent her fully inheriting. So upsetting.
