I don’t get why you need to put “religious” in there.
He’s a cunt who believes in something only a cunt would believe, which has nothing to do with religion
So just to be clear:
Should I disapprove because he is intolerant of other people’s sexuality?
Or approve because I respect his religious right to disapprove if his God tells him to?
Or just call him a c*nt because I live in Norwich and he plays for Ipswich?
Similarly to the way that freedom of religion implies freedom from religion, freedom of speech (yes, I know we don’t actually have that) implies freedom from speech, ie you can’t be compelled to say something you don’t believe in.
Like his views or not, would him wearing certain colours really make a difference to him or you?Â
It was pointed out in r/soccer that he was happy to play in kits plastered with gambling adverts on them, so he is selective about which aspects of his religion to follow.
2 things:
1) Its his choice. Like the whole kneeling BS after George Floyd. You cant just force people to go along with things because otherwise the thought police will cancel you.
2) Hes a muslim. Be thankful hes a “moderate” muslim because theres a LOT who would gladly throw gays off buildings. This is the best you can hope for, when Britain becomes a muslim country.
Should anyone have to wear anything just because it signals virtue and be judged if they dont part-take in the virtue signaling?
Because thats literally all it is. I bet most players would not wear the armband if there was 0 criticism or judgment for not wearing it. They just want to play bloody football.
There are a huge number of hypocritical people on Reddit who are paranoid about right wing plots to prevent them from expressing their free speech. Yet they themselves have no respect for the views of others who do not wish to play along with their woke agenda.
The monster. How dare he refuse to wear a rainbow laces armband.
It’s not because of his religion. It’s because he is a homophobe.
Happily wore a kit with a betting company plastered on it for loads of games. Won’t wear a rainbow armband for 1 game.
He is hiding behind his faith.
get the fuck over it, if a guy doesnt want to wear a gay pride armband then he doesnt have to, honestly fuck the woke
No one should be forced to virtue signal for anyone in a work environment however merit worthy a particular cause happens to be for you.
Workers should to be allowed to participate if they want or be left to avoid it if they don’t.
All that should matter is that in a work situation is that your primary focus is doing your the job you are paid for without being vilified, attacked or feel the need to have to explain why they’re not partaking to support a causes they do not wish to take part in.
Surely his religion has laws about gambling and usury….
I’d be fine with him using religion as a cop out if he didn’t wear a shirt twice a week with a gambling company on it. Gambling destroys lives and ultimately is a choice, being gay shouldn’t ruin your life and isn’t a choice. He’s not critical of gambling because it pays his wages, so he’s a hypocrite.
Guy is just a pathetic homophobic loser hiding behind his religion. He is a dirty player too which will be of zero surprise that someone who thinks like a caveman behaves like one.
As is his right within a free society that allows freedom of religion and expression.
Not sure why everyone is getting hysterical in this thread.

Genuine question, are we expected to be outraged at this? He chose not to wear an armband that is effectively virtue signalling for gay (maybe even LGBT also?) people.
It’s not like he’s outwardly saying he hates gay people.
Even if you are gay, are you outraged at that? Surely you just think “huh, I guess he’s not in support of us” and move on with your life. Why do we make everything a with us or against us situation now?
Cool, that’s one of the teams I want to go down then
I don’t think anyone should be forced to wear it
Obviously no one is anyway
And he’s allowed to have his very wrong opinion and think whatever he wants to think
But I’m entitled to my opinionÂ
And my opinion is that he’s a fucking wanker
If he won’t wear it, remove him from the captain’s position and give that role to a player who will 🤷 doesn’t matter what his beliefs are, the league says to wear it so they wear it. End of story. You can’t just walk into a place with a specific uniform code and go “oh actually I refuse to wear this one piece of the uniform for some bullshit reason”
Samy Sayed Mekkay Saied Morsy, refuses to wear a rainbow armband, in a music filled stadium, paid for by companies that provide interest bearing loans and gambling companies, with his bear knees broadcast to millions worldwide and a beard that is pretty much designer stubble. If he didn’t have double standards he would have no standards at all but meh there are lots of people about whom you could say very similar things.
Bollocks to Ipswich this is their captain…
Does not wanting to wear fancy colours laces make you intolerant of different sexuality or unbiased and don’t want to get involved….
Can anyone actually provide a good faith explanation as to how this isn’t just homophobia, given his religious beliefs aren’t reason enough to not sign contracts to wear shirts with gambling sponsors on the chest?
I would be interested to hear that broken down. In particular, if this line of reasoning argues that any sponsor is just out of his control, i.e. he wouldn’t have an issue with a pork pie or alcohol sponsor on the chest?
Hardly any Liverpool or ManCity seemed to be wearing rainbow laces
The whole point of gestures of solidarity like this is that they are voluntary and come from the heart. As a gay man, I think it’s counterproductive to try to compel Morsy to wear Rainbow Laces. His decision does not in any sense threaten my freedom.
Nigel Farage is far more of a danger to gay rights (and many other people’s rights) than Sam Morsy. It is therefore far more important to oppose the values and form of politics he represents.
So why are people being forced to wear something if they don’t want to its just an accessory for the kit not part of it, i get its to be “inclusive” or whatever, but it’s hipocritcal to tell people they have to wear something then complain when they say no.
