Ho pagato la tassa radiofonica e il mio compagno di stanza ha registrato il mio numero di conto. Ora il mio compagno di stanza riceve questa lettera mentre è fuori dal paese in vacanza. Cosa dovrebbe fare? Sembra un guaio totale.

How many letters did you guys ignore? That’s sooo far down the line that letters like that show up
You got 2 weeks to pay 237,33€, then you´ll be fine
This should not be the first letter, normal they ask for payment and you had only to send the information that in your apartment is an payment done with the the number under which the payment is done. There should be at least 2 mails before one with the reminder and after second one which demands payment of at least 2-3 month. Acording to the letter in your picture there is a two weeks time to pay, but did they recieve mail before there scams. Check if the sender of the mail is real and also ask GEZ why there was no prior communcation, prepare the number on which you pay.
They are now at the point where they have to pay. The letter clearly states: pay within 2 weeks or come to my office and make a declaration of your belongings under oath or an arrest warrant can be issued. No further delay is possible.
The bailiff has the right to seize belongings of the debtor. If possible they should pay and sort it out afterwards.
If they ignore this, they could be arrest if they enter Germany. But they might be released again if they confirm with the demands from above (money or oath).
A totalitarian pest that has to go…
Why not make it a subscription like any other pay-TV and people who like it pay for it and can watch it, but people who dont are not threatened with jail for not paying something they dont want to use?
This is indeed total trouble. It also means that you ignored **a lot** of letters before this one. Any chance of not paying is gone at this point due to that. Your roommate either pays 237,33€ before the date mentioned in that letter, or the bailiff from whom this letter is will try to seize it from him by whatever means, probably with some additional fees involved (and wrecking his Schufa score in the process).
This usually means just seizing it from his bank account, but it can also mean seizing stuff in your apartment or whatever.
I would highly recommend paying, and I would recommend even more highly to react to earlier letters in the future. This is the culmination of multiple increasingly threatening letters over the last few months at the least. At some earlier point it may have been possible to explain to them that he is registered in the apartment, or figure out why that is not supposed to count.
Well that latter is kind of the last escalation step before it gets really bad. You ignored a LOT of mails.
Wait, so you guys live in the same flat and you’ve already paid the Rundfunkbeitrag for said flat yourself? In that case your roommate doesn’t need to pay anything. He should get in contact with them and sort that out. Tell them your Beitragsnummer.
