It’s bunch of different fees, duty, tax, administration/handling fee.. in general it’s better not to order anything from UK, even the cheap stuff are not worth it.
18 euros handling cost for bpost, and then 21% VAT and 12% custom duties for whatever the indicated value of the package was. I basically stopped getting packages from outside of the EU because the costs are ridiculous.

~~Nothing over the value of € 21. This figure **INCLUDES** the cost of shipping~~
Ignore my comment.

omg I just ordered something from UK for the first time and now I’m worried 🙁

There’s always a fixed 18.50€ administration fee put on anything you import from outside the EU on top of the VAT. It’s just not worth it importing a single cheap item.

Import duty, dumping taxes, vat,… i would only buy in countries that we have international trade aggreements with.

I had it the other day. 90€ for a 180€ coffeegrinder. I canceled the order

Yes.
I can’t understand why people still don’t know this.

Honestly you’re probably better off going to the UK and picking it up at the store

From outside of the EU you pay taxes… this is normal…

Taxes + bpost fee. But bpost fee is absurdly high. It makes no sense to order anything cheap from UK/US if it comes by bpost. Postnl takes like 4 eur? instead of 18. In other countries this fee is even lower.

Because you where dumb enough to buy something from outside the EU and did zero research about customs…

Isn’t it so that, below the amount of 150€, that those taxes don’t apply? 🫣🤷♂️

Learned this the hard way like most people.
My kid was a huge ninja turtle fan, but some figurines were not available in Belgium.
Ordered one online without really checking where it was shipped from.
It ended up double the price, but the kid was so happy.

If it’s a mail by ‘bpost’. Do not just pay it online. Normally the mailman will ask you to pay in person. A lot of fake mails are going around so watch out!

Always check if shops outside of the EU include VAT in their prices or not. Most UK shops put in their faq if they do or not.
If they declare VAT, you won’t get taxed on importing it.

For what it’s worth, if you buy on Amazon (.com for example) or Ebay, or if your seller sends by DHL/UPS, then you just pay the import tax without any extortion fee from bpost. You pay for it upfront and it also takes less time I think.

What about shipping to the UK from Belgium?
Does anyone have an idea how much the import would be? It’s quite a big package.
