No big surprise, though I think immigration is more at the core of this than standard American style low tax conservativism. When taxes and spending were for the benefit of Norwegians, far less people had a problem with it. Now that Norway is 20% foreign born, it changes that calculus a lot.
Am I willing to personally sacrifice so that a migrant that chose to come here can have a slightly better life? Hard no. And I would expect if you dive down into the motivations for the shift to more “conservative” values you’d find the same reasoning.
What were really seeing is a rise in populism and nationalism, exemplified by the gains we’ve seen from FrP in recent years. I think the next stortingvalg will be a right wing bloodbath. We’ve watched what’s happened in Germany, Sweden, and France, and don’t want the same for Norway.

Europe really cant be the welfare state for the rest of the world. Its unsustainable. This shift is happening all over Europe right now so its no surprise.

This is quite a shame. I moved to this country after watching the right wing destroy my country for decades. I could have moved to the US and get paid more but I like Norwegian values a lot better.
In my opinion, greed is what drives a country to the right. This is ironic because it often leads to a very small group of people hoarding all the wealth while everyone ends up poorer.
If you are moving right because you think you will get more, you are almost certainly wrong.
