If you switch the genders on this, there would be an enormous amount of (rightful) outrage.

There should be the same here.

Christ! I’m actually shocked there is an article highlighting discrimination against men, usually you’ll struggle to get an acknowledgement let alone a published article from a reputable newspaper. Genuinely shocked. A move in the right direction though, fair play.

We are always told slippery slope arguments are bullshit by people who know what they *want* to happen is a bit further down said slippery slope than where we are at right now.

These people *want* to be allowed to discriminate against men and more specifically “cis het white guys” they think it’ll be cathartic and that it’s justified because of their own simplistic and propagandized understanding of history.

These people don’t want equality they want revenge and the ability to be oppressors. That’s what all of this is about

  4. Riot Girl bands performative feminism becoming misandry eventually is a tale as old as the genre. Kathleen Hanna has been called out on it multiple times.

As a male, and frequent solo gig attendee, this is one of my worst nightmares lol.

That being said, I’ve not once been made to feel like a creep – by either security or fellow gig attendees – across multiple venues and acts, so my initial feeling upon reading this is that unfortunately as an all female band my assumption is that they must have had a security tip off ahead of time.

Sounds like they’ve had trouble before and they identified single men as the troublemakers. Which means the issue is really whether we can discriminate against a group because of the actions of some of its members. I generally see that as being a bad move.

  7. Wait until you hear about European nightclubs.

This shit has always happened, they just did it too blatantly

You do not get to harass a certain group of people and then justify it under the guise of safety concerns. How is that any different from racial profiling?

Given the band’s history I imagine something was said to the venue (who have no previous record of this intrusive behaviour) i won’t speculate as I don’t know what, if anything was said but if it emerges something was said, then claiming ignorance or that there was a misunderstanding is not a good enough excuse.

From what was stated in the article the venue would be very lucky if they don’t have anyone filing a lawsuit against them.

Another man wrote: “I rocked up there tonight at 8.45 on my own, no queue, I got asked how long I had liked them for, and to name my favourite song. I thought it was a bit strange and the first time I’ve ever felt like I’m on mastermind to get into a gig. **Now I’ve read this I understand why now.**”

…now that he’s read what? Seems like a paragraph is missing.

No one actually listens to this band, they’re just the newest industry plant.

TL;DR: Industry plant does industry plant things to get in the news.

Eh, been happening for nigh on 30 odd years now. I remember the many nights spent offering to buy random women on the street some drinks so me and the lads could get into somewhere that was ‘full’ or you had the wrong type of footwear on.

They want to perpetuate gender inequality, fine, but raging scumbags like Andrew Tate use that sort of thing as ammunition to spread their misogyny, not excluding other misogynistic aspirants. Can’t have your cake and eat it, I’m afraid.

I bet the Guardian published that article with gritted teeth

Unfortunately, none of this is particularly new. Clubs across the country have been doing this sort of thing for…well ever? Groups of men, or especially single men, are often excessively questioned and even denied entry as a matter of course.

Unless TLDP come and speak out against this heavy handedness you’ve got to believe they’re complicit with it.

    It’s a joke really.

Women think this is equality, its not and they justify it because as a group they have experienced thus behaviour but two wrongs don’t make a right, this is gross.
