Sono l’unico a vedere che questi segnali elettronici di velocità stanno davvero creando ingorghi? E40 Groot Bijgaarden direzione Gent, tunnel Kennedy ad Anversa,…?

Yes lower speeds translate to more traffic jams. You understood the assignment.

Lower speeds avoid having to slow down and speed up all the time, which avoids the usual accordion effect. (Is accordion English?)

Lower chances of accidents also equal less traffic jams

Due to the lower speed limit, people have more time to brake. This in turn prevents unnecessary braking when the people in front of you brake (you would typically let go of the gas instead, and people are very bad at judging distances and the braking time needed overall ) which could result in actual jams.

Although counterintuitive, it is thus better to have low speed limits 🙂 (and yes, *your* individual time might increase, but the average time spent in traffic by everyone decreases)

These signs automatically show lower speed limit when there is ALREADY CONGESTION downstream of the sign… it’s an automated process based on the induction loops that measure vehicles/h, speed.
So yea there will be congestion, but not because of the signs themselves

If you arrive at the traffic jam later you make it less bad. They’re trying to slow you down and hope that the jam has dissolved before you get there. You’re in the left lane probably trying to get there as fast as possible.

  5. If you complain about them lowering speed at that location when there is traffic jam up ahead, you have never seen somebody slam into the mr. “can’t hold distance so I brake very aggresively”

That place is a permanent traffic jam, nothing can fix it.
