I’ve asked Germans and Dutch people about this before, nobody knows the game or anything similar. It’s quite surprising since they do have the exact same tree species everywhere.

No; it’s about as British as it’s possible to get, although it was played in parts of the US and Canada during the mid 20th century. AFAIK it’s now only played in the UK and Ireland, and unknown everywhere else.

We used Knuckles, Fists or the palm of our hands for similar drinking games-there were other variants, but it all had to do, with being brave and withstanding pain
