I mean it used to be a minimum tenner.

But also it’s been nearly four years since these have been in place from Britland. How have you not known this is going to happen by now?

Brother in Norway is 50€, Belgium 25€ minimum. It’s not so bad

Its additional work for An Post. They have to to handle, collect and process the package in a way they don’t for all EU post. It doesn’t really make a difference if the parcel is €5 or €500, its the same amount of work. A flat fee makes sense.

Unsure what the piss take is here. Seems reasonable.

It’s €20 in Denmark. It’s not so bad in Ireland

  5. It’s exactly the same amount of work for them whether you’re ordering something worth €0.50 or €50,000.

  6. This thread is a really good example of the classic r/ireland take of “Everything is shit and bad and expensive in Ireland” only to find out actually, its not bad

if it wasnt for charges like these there would be no post office. At the moment its death by a thousand cuts for the PO. I use them every chance I get. Imagine the horror if it failed and we were left at the mercy of gls and dhl etc

Aw shite, its gone up from €3.50? Last time I got one of those it was down to a seller not doing the documents right on something that cost ~€2.70 that I’d actually paid VAT on.

Miss the days of not paying any VAT on things below €24 in value. Slowly draining the Chinese government coffers with subsidized free shipping on sub-euro microchips and circuit boards.

I forced to fork out a tenner for medical records sent by a loved one. Robbery. Even when I appealed it, they would not budge.

I suggest you strongly consider renaming this post to..

An Post, still the best value and third highest ranked on sustainability postal service in the world

I guess beggars can be choosers. Would you like an post to work for free?

  13. I usually have nothing but respect for An Post but they’re infuriatingly unhelpful at times. Bought a few items on AliExpress, they came from the Netherlands. Tracking shows them as having been accepted at the local depot yesterday morning and a single minute later, marked down as undeliverable because the address is wrong. The address is correct. I don’t know what’s printed on the package but do they give me the option to provide them with the correct address?

Do they fuck. I even got on to PostNL to ask if *they* can give them the correct address and no. Fucking package likely was sitting not too many miles away from me and I could do absolutely nothing to stop them from returning to sender.

Got a gift from the US…. had to pay 27e in charges. The worst thing is I didn’t even know anything was sent to me as it was a competition 😂🤦‍♂️

I’ll take €5 charged ahead of time over the €19 charged by FedEx and the like, who don’t even ask if i want to receive a package, and send an invoice days later with (not making this up) a broken feedback link.

I’m fine with An Post, and wish international senders would just use regular post service to send me tracked packages.

It’s not An Post’s fault that the UK decided to fuck us all over with their brexit bs.
