As expected, the main perpetrator is not jailed for what seems to have been a random attack. His sentence is also deferred. What messages does this send to those who are victims of violent crimes?

We may as well repeal the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act. If the Garda and justice system wont protect us, we may as well protect ourselves. I’m not asking us to become like America, but I no longer see a good argument for banning things like pepper spray

From the article it seems odd. They left a house party at 11pm. They were followed by about 20 lads. They attended the victim and his friend who seen to be the target of the attack. The accused was the only one identified. Why is he been treated so lightly if he didn’t help identify others.

He pays 3000 to the victim who didn’t want to got to court or make a victim impact statement. Should be several years school fees. 3000 is probably small change to him.

Why is the school not named. I think but can’t be sure it’s the same one where some of its students go off for kicking a guy to death in 2000.

  4. I wonder if it wasn’t a private school would it have been named? I see no reason why the schools name has been redacted either other than to protect its image. Not that it’s hard to guess what school it was.
