The passenger, who only wanted to be called Neil, said those on board were asked to pray for their fellow passenger.
yep that’ll help.

Anyone that goes overboard from a ship, especially at night, is incredibly lucky if they survive.

No sympathy. The person was faffing around and being stupid which is what caused her to over over the side.
I’m sorry but who in the right mind would stand on the side and take a selfie? My poor daughter is now traumatised as she witnessed this and it completely ruined our holiday.

As much as I will lambast cruise lines for selling alcohol, given that this things are very usually due to drunkenness, cruise ships are, despite their love of pushing alcohol, very safe.
But yes, fuck MSC Cruises and Norwegian and Royal Carribean and Carnival for pushing Alcohol.

Was on the ship, terrifying being woken up by the emergency alarm. Couldn’t feel more helpless as we waited for updates, was such a cold, windy night too. Poor girl

Having spent nearly 12 years at sea, it is virtually impossible to go overboard unless you intend to, or the sea takes you in a terrible storm. Or of course, if someone else decides you are going for a swim.
So this was obviously ‘high jinx’ or a suicide.
We have all seen crazy videos and selfies of people hanging from high buildings …. and coming a cropper. This is likely similar. Worth pointing out that unless the water entry was ‘clean’ she could have been killed instantly – water has the hardness of concrete when approached at a high velocity. And of course, your survival time in the cold waters of the UK is counted in minutes unless you are wearing the appropriate gear.

Very sad. Sounds like it was late at night – and it’s generally quite hard for these things to be accidents. RIP cruise lady.
It’s not made it onto [https://www.cruisemapper.com/accidents](https://www.cruisemapper.com/accidents) yet.

Very sad all the same.
