Obviously the autobahn network is great, I’d love to give it a go myself someday – don’t take the title too seriously!
Much of the Isle of Man’s road network is ‘unrestricted’, where stated by the ‘end of speed limit’ signs outside built-up areas.
You may go as fast as you wish on these roads, so long as you drive safely and abide by traffic laws. During the Isle of Man TT races period, people often overtake the POLICE at speeds in excess of 150mph on these roads, most commonly on the A18 mountain road, which is part of the motorbike race course.
Here’s a link to a video of someone hitting 175mph over said road, this starts at 08:26 -> [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PEuV5SBI5E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PEuV5SBI5E)
This road is part of my daily commute, and I’m blessed being able to drive this fantastic bit of tarmac everyday.
To show how mental the TT races are, I’d love for you to watch either this demo lap from a rider’s helmet: [https://youtu.be/ciPgQ1096Tw?si=gO1oo89OKA53snI3](https://youtu.be/ciPgQ1096Tw?si=gO1oo89OKA53snI3)
The only problem with the Isle of Man is the sea surrounding it. I can drive to Germany in 30 minutes and enjoy the hyperspeed of 190 km/h in my ~~911 Turbo~~ 206. It’s a bit more challenging to get to Man.
mudokin on
It’s not the worst idea, drive as fast as you want, as soon as you exceed a certain limit and you endanger someone or cause an accident then you are on the hook completely,
There need to be way harsher punishments for people putting others in danger on the street, drivers licenses need to be suspended much quicker. Act like and ass and you lose the privilege to drive.
mushuggarrrr on
Have hit the limiter on my 5pw R1 there, the only time I’ve ever managed to overtake my mate on the road 😂
Respect the limits in/near towns and respect other road users.. there’s nowhere else like the IOM ❤️

Or, alternatively the fastest ever lap recorded around the course under race conditions: [https://youtu.be/31RZ5wU-Fg0?si=c6yocKyQo9JnYsVr](https://youtu.be/31RZ5wU-Fg0?si=c6yocKyQo9JnYsVr)
Huh, they still use imperial units?
