  1. An unexpected development in the campaign is Fine Gael’s apparent tendency to adopt policies similar to Sinn Féin’s. A senior Fianna Fáil source noted the similarity in promises from both parties. Fine Gael has started supporting a second Garda college, a cap on childcare fees, and the removal of means tests for carers and student fees—positions Sinn Féin recently highlighted. A Sinn Féin strategist humorously acknowledged the situation as “a little unsettling.”

If all parties just stayed quiet from here on in and didn’t say a word or answer a question theN SF wouldn’t be able to help but open their mouths. And sure as day follows night, it would fill up with SF feet.

Mary Lou has to go for her consistent mismanagement of the party.

I know she has personal issues, but they do not excuse her neglect and the current state of the party

The ability for SF to constantly eat shit for five years then bounce back in the GE needs to be studied.

Is it just the reality of another 5 years of FFG dawning on people?

I think the simple fact is that for most parties it just hasn’t been their day, their week, their month, or even their year.

Unsurpising tbh. There’s a worldwide trend of sitting governments not being reelected. People are fed up of the status quo, and in Ireland the biggest opposition is still Sinn Fein. So they’re going to get a lot of votes. Not based on policy, not based on likeability of their candidates, but purely on the basis of not FFG.
