Hah, the EU finally growing a spine and uno-reversing what PRC has been doing for decades.

Gonna add some context to this. How China got this idea actually came from Singapore.
The main reason this started was because before China’s rise, they sent their scholars to Singapore’s university (National University of Singapore) to learn how the country adopted alot of pro-business/quid-pro-quo strategies on building internal capabilities. This happened for many years and overtime the scholars were sent back to China to become policymakers themselves.
That is why you actually see alot of the chinese policies emulate what Singapore had done during their initial rise.
Some things that carried over are the usual limited rights of unions, clampdown on protests, a more authoritarian take on things. Of course overtime they took their own spin on it, for better or for worse.
I am not too sure if they still send their scholars to the country, but this is just some history nugget for you to know.

First lines of an article and it’s already hilarious:
“Brussels is planning to force Chinese companies to transfer intellectual property to European businesses in return for EU subsidies as part of a tougher trade regime for clean technologies following the election of Donald Trump.”
You can’t force a deal when you are in an inferior position and is a declining power. Knowing Chinese politeness, this would simply ignored.

Thanks for the laugh, EU 😂

This is sad because it shows how far Europe has fallen behind technologically.
