On Saturday, November 23, Lviv honored the memory of the victims of the Holodomors. City residents gathered in the city center near the Shevchenko Monument, lit candles, and numerous representatives of the clergy from various denominations conducted an ecumenical prayer service. The event was attended by military personnel, families with children, and young people carrying posters.
Notably, 30 survivors of the 1932–1933 Holodomor currently live in Lviv, and the city provided them with financial assistance. Similar commemorative events took place across Ukraine, including in Kyiv near the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide.
As a reminder, on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomors of 1921–1922, 1932–1933, and 1946–1947. These famines, artificially created by the leadership of the USSR, resulted in the deaths of many many million Ukrainians.
